ALMOND FREE MARZIPAN

ALMOND FREE MARZIPAN

It’s very inconvenient to have “IgG and IgA food sensitivity” to almonds and in particular, if you’re gluten/ grain free like me. It’s inconvenient because many gluten/grain free alternatives contain almonds or almond flour. Well, I guess the result is that I make more homemade breads and […]

MINERALS, GROUNDING & VITAMIN D

MINERALS, GROUNDING & VITAMIN D

The reason that you feel so relaxed and balanced after spending time at the beach is because your body becomes replenished with vital minerals from the salt water. It’s better than a bath with Epsom salts The salt water and sand will also ground you […]

ALTERNATIVES FOR KIDS

ALTERNATIVES FOR KIDS

ALTERNATIVE FOR ICE CREAM

My son accepted a smoothie bowl instead of an ice cream.

Most smoothie bowls contain lots of sugars even though it’s natural. In particular fructose will spike your blood sugar and your body’s need to produce insulin.

However I still think this smoothie bowl is a better option than most coconut ice creams or soft serves. It might contain sugars but it won’t contain any preservatives or emulsifiers.

GREEN SMOOTHIE & COCONUT YOGURT

Most mornings I make a green smoothie but it’s not very sweet at all so to make it a little more “child friendly”, I’ve mixed it with coconut yogurt.

There’s also no harm done in cutting up strawberries and nuts to drizzle on top

This coconut yogurt is without any added processed nor natural sugars.

THUMBPRINT COOKIES

THUMBPRINT COOKIES

I’ve made these delicious gluten, dairy and processed sugar free Thumbprint Cookies a couple of times now. They’re easy to make and I store them in the freezer as they defrost really fast. They’re great for a snack “on the go” or in your kids’ lunch boxes. I’ll […]

ALLEVIATING PAIN

ALLEVIATING PAIN

From time to time, I’ll mix up natural remedies and I often use my therapeutic and food grade essential oils. I also like to give friends and family a roller bottle with a blend of beautiful smelling essential oil that they can apply instead of […]

FRESH ROASTED DANDELION ROOT

FRESH ROASTED DANDELION ROOT

I’m enjoying my morning tea. This home roasted dandelion root tastes delicious with a hint of caramel and I brew the tea in coconut milk.

Dandelion root is a great substitute for coffee or black tea.

Roast them in the oven at 170 C or 340 F until they’re roasted dark enough for you. Keep an eye and don’t leave the kitchen to avoid burning them.

Experiment how dark or lightly roasted you prefer.

There’re many health benefits drinking dandelion root like supporting liver detox, skin health, digestion and intestinal health as well as immune system function.

It’s rich in calcium, vitamin K, antioxidants and rich in fiber.

You can read more about dandelion tea benefits at www.draxe.com/dandelion-tea/

FROM A ROADSIDE PRODUCE STAND

FROM A ROADSIDE PRODUCE STAND

I’ve discovered a stand with local produce from their own garden not to far away from where we live. It helps us reduce packaging and save money as well as our reliance on big supermarkets. A bag of carrots, three cauliflowers and a celeriac for […]

CHAI TEA WITH CARDAMOM

CHAI TEA WITH CARDAMOM

img_5017

Afternoon self care with chai tea with coconut milk and a drop of cardamom essential oil.

I add the essential oil when the tea has cooled ready to drink.

In the Modern Essentials book, cardamom essential oil is highlighted for it’s uplifting, refreshing and invigorating properties.

Historically, cardamom was used for many digestive and respiratory complaints.

I use doTERRA essential oils because they’re food and therapeutic grade essential oils and the plants are grown in a region in which they’re indigenous and where the plants have grown naturally for thousands of years, creating the nutritive soil conditions, air quality, weather/moisture etc. These conditions as well as the extraction process are reflected in the quality of the essential oils.

You can order doTERRA essential oils HERE and they’ll be send directly to you. Or even better, if you want to buy the oils at wholesale price (25% of retail price), you can enroll with your own account HERE. There is no monthly order required, no contracts or lock in and it can be cancelled any time.

FORAGING AT THE GOLF COURSE

FORAGING AT THE GOLF COURSE

My dad came home from the golf course with a bunch of Suillus luteus mushrooms. This is not the first time my dad brings eatable mushrooms from the golf course. They don’t use herbicides or pesticides at the golf course so they should be safe […]
