DIY TOOTHPASTE

img_4866

After our big move and some travels, I didn’t get around to making some more toothpaste when I ran out. We haven’t used store bought toothpaste for a long time and our son thought the store bought toothpaste was too spicy as he said.

It feels good to “be back” using our homemade toothpaste and it shouldn’t be hard to keep it up now that we’re back in the daily routine 🙂

INGREDIENTS
6 tbsp Bentonite clay
4 tbsp Diatomaceous earth (optional, can use bentonite clay instead)
4 tsp Baking soda (naturally extracted)
3 tsp Sea salt (unrefined)
5 tsp Xylitol, Sukrin or Stevia powder (or to taste)
5 tbsp Coconut oil (or until desired texture)
10-15 drops Essential oil (like peppermint, spearmint, myrrh, clove bud)

DIRECTIONS
In a small bowl, combine and mix bentonite clay, diatomaceous earth (if using), baking soda , sea salt, and xylitol, sukrin or stevia powder.
Slowly add coconut oil, blending until it reaches the consistency you desire, It will firm up a bit after it sets.
Add essential oils and stir until mixed well.
Store in a clean container with an airtight lid.
